Everyone must participate for democracy to work. Sadly, few minority, low-income or young Nebraskans vote which weakens their political voice. This is important because many of today’s crucial issues such as education, jobs and health care directly involve these Nebraskans and decisions are made without their voice.
Everyone benefits when we break down the barriers to voting. At Nebraska Appleseed, we encourage low-income, minority, new immigrant and young people to register, vote and take part in the political process. We support voter registration projects and helped return the right to vote to ex-felons. We make sure every vote counts.
To VOTE in Nebraska you must be a United States Citizen, be 18 years old on or before November 4, 2008, and live in Nebraska. You must also be registered to vote in the county where you live.
